<h1 class="ql-align-center"><strong style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">Zeliangrong Naga Tribe</strong></h1><p class="ql-align-center"><br></p><h3><strong>Context </strong></h3><ul><li>In a significant boost to peace in the Northeast, the Centre and the Government of Manipur signed a<strong> ‘Cessation of Operation’ agreement with Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF),</strong> an insurgent outfit of Manipur that has been active for more than a decade.</li><li>To oversee the enforcement of the agreed ground rules, a joint monitoring group will be constituted.</li></ul><p><br></p><h3><strong>About </strong></h3><ul><li>It aimed to create a <strong>‘Zeliangrong’ state</strong> within the Indian Union comprising the <strong>Zeliangrong Naga tribe’s area in Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.</strong></li><li>Zeliangrong people are one of the major indigenous <strong>Naga communities living in the tri-junction of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland in India.</strong> They are the descendants of Nguiba.</li><li>The term<strong> "Zeliangrong" refers to the Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei Naga tribes combined.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><h3><strong>Note</strong> :</h3><ul><li>Zeliangrong movement in the 1920s was associated with Manipur and surrounding areas of Assam and Nagaland.</li><li><strong>Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu (from the Rongmei tribe)</strong> were important leaders of the movement.</li></ul><p><br></p><h1 class="ql-align-center"><strong>PRELIMS NOTES:</strong><a href="https://www.sunyaias.com/subscription-details/prelims-2023-sunya-notes-current-affairs" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 204);"><strong>CLICK HERE</strong></a></h1>
